Concept guide
Options Volume
Options volume is the number of contracts traded in a single day.
What volume tells you
Volume shows how active a contract is right now. Combined with open interest, it indicates whether a contract is genuinely liquid or simply has a wide quote.
Using volume in practice
Thin volume widens spreads and raises the cost of getting in and out. A contract with a good mid but no volume can still be hard to exit near the mid.
FAQ
